One Day - 8 Hour Outdoor First Aid
This qualification is for those undertaking the role of a first aider in an outdoors environment, for example at outdoor pursuits activity centres. The qualification is typically delivered over one day and covers common injuries and conditions that activity instructors may face.
This qualification is available to those over 16 years. The qualification can be taken by those under 16, however they should not be relied upon to be the sole first aider. Those under 16 often include those undertaking the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.
Due to the language of the assessment, it is recommended that learners have sufficient command of the English language in order to understand the assessment and to undertake the recommended assessment methods.
Attendees will be required to demonstrate First Aid procedures as they would in a real work environment. This includes providing CPR to a casualty who is on the floor, therefore be physically capable of doing so.
Learning the basics in a real life environment Outdoor First Aid isn’t just first aid outdoors or even just outdoors. You will start your journey of learning at the approach to the casualty and end it with the Rescue Team arriving (something we can all relate to). Arriving first on scene or being out with friends can find you far from help and with only the kit with you to use. You will learn the basics to the necessary about looking after that casualty until further help arrives with the kit you carry. We have no toys or stretchers we have to improvise.
